Warrior Tanking Caps -These are not ceilings but, the desired goal. Going above a cap will still benefit you but, not very much. You are better off focusing on something else. Defense Cap (535 Heroics, 540 Raid Bosses) - this makes you uncrittable. You don't want to see a boss drop you with a critical strike, its a sure wipe for your group. 535 for Heroics 540 for Raid Bosses Expertise Cap (26 Dodge, 54 Parry) - Expertise affects your ability to hit mobs and their ability to hit you. You only need 26 here, 54 is unreasonable. Hit Cap (263 Hit) - This allows you to miss with your attacks less. Once you reach 263 your chance to miss has been reduced as much as possible. (A big part of getting your Expertise and Hit up is getting better gear from Heroics and Raids. The better tank gear has less Defense and more Expertise and Hit. Don't stress too much about not reaching the Expertise or Hit Caps, it will come in time.) |

Frost Mages, Subtlety Rogues, and Beastmastery Hunters all have incomplete top 20's lists for Yogg Saron (and Yogg Saron only). Balance Druids are missing data for Razorscale, and also have an incomplete top 20's list for XT-002 Deconstructor. Barring these exceptions, the data is complete. I suspect Fire Mage dps is greatly skewed. The top fire mage dps on Hodir is 3k dps ahead of the next contender. Hodir and Vezax gimmicks are pushing Fire Mages ahead. They're still pretty strong dps-wise though. For a spec that was only recently quite strong, arcane has fallen behind rather quickly. It is below every hybrid spec except for Arms Warriors. Fury and Arms Warriors are definitively the weakest hybrid specs. Unholy Death Knights are way and ahead the strongest hybrid, likely as a result of inflated aoe damage. Shadow Priests and Feral Druids are also pretty strong hybrid classes but not by much. Conclusion While not to downplay hybrid issues and concerns, I feel like they have been treated overall pretty well. With the exception of warriors and some other minor tweaks hybrids generally have pretty strong dps. And that's alongside their very capable healing and tanking specs. Meanwhile there are numerous pure specs that are behind to the point of non-viability. When are we going to address this? Why is it every time we talk about these specs we are just told to "respec"? Can we please inject some flavor and fun into this game again with these specs? I understand that it takes a lot to gear for an entirely separate role and it is easier to switch for a pure--but this is kind of ridiculous. We still talk about nothing but hybrid dps when really they're quite viable. The same thing can't be said of many pure specs.Source |
